Run.
Run from the monsters
Hiding under your bed and
Inside your closet,
Hiding in the shadows of the basement and
In the light of the sun.
Run from the monsters with talons
In the form of smooth, sweetened words.
The ones that
Once they have you close enough
Once you believe their honeyed lies
Claw you apart and leave you to bleed out on the marbled floor.
Run from the ones that
Are too good to be true.
Run from the ones who say that
they only want to save you
Run from the ones that
Preach that you are the monster
Run from the ones that
Say you would be pure
If only you’d become one too
Run from those who
Hide their true intentions behind
Finassed words and mesmerized rules
Run and
Run and
Run.
Run from the ones who hold onto the gospel
Run from the ones who hold onto the book
Run from the ones who hold onto The Truth
And if you forget which ones to run from
never forget
Religion makes monsters of us all.

I like the concept behind this piece. I felt it personally; I’ll write my fair share of posts about “The Truth.” It’s a topic I appreciate you bringing up and addressing boldly. Additionally, the words you choose have a certain aura that fit the purpose of the whole, which I think is a really neat aspect of your style!
