A Night of Absinthe

The moon doesn’t know

Of the thoughts I have about her

She stares at me from afar

With what could be love

I am guilty

The jury scorns me with the absence of a fair judge

The weight of my sentence pulls my hands off of you

Blood saturating your soft soft skin

Lips meeting bared teeth

Saccharine words a poison only

Distance can make abstain

Is this okay?

Your eyes on me and it’s dark

Mango sweet sensations

My lingering ghosts crawl

Away to give us some privacy

What if

just a moment, I can keep Him

Away for a night

Hiding beneath sheets

I’ve trained the air to carry me

Away but as long as your hands hold on

I can be yours tonight

A substitute to another tomorrow

But when we’re fast asleep

My dreams belong to the moon

My loathed, deprived lover

She writhes in my bloody hands

Before the sun can catch on

The moon will watch me go, mourning

She will be there to comfort you when I can’t

Lust will leave and in it’s wake there’s

A sickening aftertaste
