confessions in poetry because I do not believe in priests

I must confess

I am a coward

I do not want to place my gaze in your hands

Only for you to be holding someone else’s

A little shard building into a lie

When you say something that was always

A synonym to pain

I must confess

I never was a runner

But I find myself so capable of creating miles

Between

Us

Desperately trying to preserve

the dignity I always used

As knee pads preventing me

from hurting myself begging

to not be left

Behind
